Game of Thrones (2011) - Best Quotes of Tyrion Lannister

One does not simply watch Game of Thrones and not love Tyrion Lannister. He is the Imp, a not-so-good-looking dwarf who drinks and whores away most of his life. Yet, he goes on to become one of the most lovable and respectable man in the series. He is also one of the rare characters who gets to deliver some of the best dialogues and punchlines in Game of Thrones.

Quote 1

"It's not easy being drunk all the time. If it were easy, everyone would do it.”

Tyrion Lannister has a point! Now how many people do we see who are constantly drunk and yet very sharp and insightful. Alcohol and shrewdness simply cannot go together, unless you are Tyrion, the Imp.

Quote 2

“It's hard to put a leash on a dog once you've put a crown on its head.”

Tyrion tells to his sister Cersei, the queen mother, while summing up Joffrey in one sentence. Couldn't be a more accurate comparison.

Quote 3

“I just want to stand on top of the Wall and piss off the edge of the world.”

Tyrion says this to his brother Jaime when asked if he really wants to join the Night Watchers at the Wall. If you have seen the enormity and frozen ruggedness of the wall, you will find humour in this one.

Quote 4

"I am the god of tits and wine."

A drunk Tyrion proclaims to his father Tywin Lannister during his own wedding celebrations. He is well aware that his marriage to Sansa Stark is a sham, an evil ploy to entrap Sansa within the Lannister family so that she can produce the heir to Winterfell. Tyrion knows that Sansa is too good for her, and that she will never love him. Probably one of the many reasons why he decides to drown himself in wine on his own wedding night.

Quote 5

"We've had vicious kings, and we've had idiot kings, but I don't know if we've ever been cursed with a vicious idiot for a king!"

Tyrion once again sums up his psychopathic and stupid nephew Joffrey in one extremely accurate sentence. Joffrey became king solely by chance, all because his even more stupid father ex-king Robert Baratheon got himself drunk and killed during a hunting trip, courtesy to his own wife Cersei. Joffrey inherited his father stupidity and his mother's wickedness - a rare combination. Truly, Tyrion is right, it is very rare to see psychopaths who are also idiots.

Quote 6

"Tyrion Lannister: Someone threw a cow pie at you so you decide to kill them all! They're starving, you fool! All because of a war you started!

Joffrey Baratheon: YOU'RE TALKING TO A KING!

Tyrion Lannister (slapping Joffrey): And now I've struck a king. Did my hand fall from my wrist?"

One of the funniest and OMG scenes in Game of Thrones, when everyone gets terrified of how vicious Joffrey has become, and then along comes Tyrion, marching up to the king and slapping him across his face with no hesitation or fear whatsoever. Joffrey's expression was worth a million bucks.

Quote 7

"You might find it difficult to rule over millions who want you dead."

More words of wisdom from Tyrion to his sister Cersei, an evil conniving queen whose every plan somehow blows right up in her face.

Quote 8

"Let me give you some advice, bastard. Never forget what you are. The rest of the world will not. Wear it like armour, and it can never be used to hurt you."

This is indeed one of the best quotes of Game of Thrones. Genuine words of wisdom from Tyrion Lannister to Jon Snow, while they are travelling together to the Wall.

Quote 9

"The Lord of Light wants his enemies burnt. The Drowned God wants his enemies drowned. Why are all the gods such vicious c-nts? Where is the god of t-ts and wine?"

Well said, Tyrion! That is not how gods are meant to be. It's the nature of humans to try and justify their lust for violence and power.

Quote 10

"I did not kill Joffrey but I wish that I had. Watching your vicious bastard die gave me more relief than a thousand lying whores. I wish I was the monster you think I am."

One of the best outbursts of Game of Thrones. Couldn't agree more Tyrion, who couldn't wish for enough poison to take out all the vicious Lannisters and their even more vicious King's Guards.

Tyrion Lannister shows true courage here, publicly trashing Cersei and Tywin, knowing that he is only days away from execution for a crime he has not committed. Something that the most noble and brave Ned Stark failed to do, quietly submitting to accusations of treachery in the face of execution.

Tyrion Lannister, you are the most awesome character of the Game of Thrones! You are shrewd, brave and noble, a rare combination for any character in this series.
